January Highlights

               Happy New Year!  It’s hard to believe that we are starting a new year already, time is flying by!  The students are very busy getting ready for Catholic Schools Week.  The theme for this year is Ocean.   We are planning our activities, decorations, and class instruction around this theme. With the wrap-up being our Open House, there is so much to do, in a short time!   

                Besides Catholic Schools Week, there are still the basic skills that they need to continue to work on.  There’s reading, where the students are working on reading independently, math has them mastering the subtraction facts from 12, and stretching out their sentences in English.  The students will continue with their weekly spelling words, as well as the correct letter formation and spacing in handwriting.  The first grade will be sending Valentine Messages and “goodie bags” to Mrs. Schreiner’s son who is serving in Iraq.  They will be very busy this month.
