This month the second graders are having heartfelt thoughts towards each other. We will have a Valentine’s Day party on Tuesday the 14th, please bring in your Valentine’s Day box! We will be learning about St. Valentine and why we celebrate him today. Also, we will be having a special unit on President’s Day. We will learn all about George Washington even making our own three corner hats in his honor. Plus, we will learn about Abraham Lincoln and what he kept in his hat!
Subject Highlights: Handwriting - Second grade is finishing up capital letters and starting lower case in cursive!
Spelling - Second grade is working on lesson eighteen twenty two, keep studying!
Reading - Second grade is learning comprehension and sequencing in Unit 5.
English - Second grade has just finished learning about Verbs. We are heading into writer’s workshop. We will be writing an explanatory essay about “How to Make a Sandwich”.
Math - Second grade just finished our unit on time. We will start on place value to a hundred and adding/subtracting hundreds with and without regrouping.
Religion - Second grade is on unit 3 of Religion, God’s Word. We will be studying how to act as a follower of God. Also we will start learning about Lent and how to prepare for Easter.
Science - We will begin to learn all about our planet Earth!!! We are excited to do some hands-on labs!!!
We just finished up our school theme on To Infinity and Beyond !! Thank you to everyone who came to our Open House!! It was so nice to see all of you!!
