Mr. Gonzalez is in his fourth year as the 7th grade homeroom teacher at St. Maria Goretti. He is also the 5th thru 8th Social Studies teacher. Mr. Gonzalez attended Catholic schools while growing up in Chicago - Our Lady of Mercy for grade school and a graduate of Gordon Tech High School. He received his BA from Columbia College. After working for Fortune 500 companies for over 10 years, Mr. Gonzalez returned to school to earn his Master of Education from National Louis University in 2005 to answer his true calling.
Mr. Gonzalez believes that to really reach a student, teaching cannot begin and end in the classroom. To be truly successful, teaching needs to continue outside of the classroom. Mr. Gonzalez believes in project based learning which allows for creativity and ownership by each student.
Mr. Gonzalez enjoys reading, swimming, movies and relaxing at home with his family when he is not running back and forth from his kids’ high school activities. Most of all Mr. Gonzalez enjoys the fall and winter season because of football – his favorite sport! GO BEARS!!!
