5th Grade

Mrs. Krielaart also teaches science for 5th-8th Grades.

January Highlights 

5^th Religion: The students will start out with the Epiphany prayer. We are beginning our unit on Baptism and Confirmation

5^th Reading: The students finished with their novel “Number the Stars”. They are continuing with Unit 2 “My World and Yours”.

5^th Science: The students are beginning the New Year with a unit on adaptations and how they help organisms survive. All the science fair projects are complete and the students will begin peer review and presentations shortly before the actual Science Fair.

5^th English:  The students will be reviewing their prepositions. Also, they will be learning poetry concerning oceans the last week of January into February and constructing concrete poems on the oceans.

5^th Social Studies: The students will begin to learn about Jamestown and English colonies.

5^th Math: The students will be finishing up working with patterns and number theory.  Then it’s time to dive into the ocean and explore scales, areas, perimeters, conversions, reading maps, rates, ratios, proportions, and percents.
