January Highlights

6th English: The students will be reviewing their prepositions. Also, they will be learning poetry concerning oceans the last week of January into February and constructing concrete poems on the oceans.

6th Math: The students will be finishing up working with factorization, fractions, and decimals.  Then it’s time to dive into the ocean and explore scales, areas, perimeters, conversions, reading maps, rates, ratios, proportions, and percents. 

6th Science: The students will start to explore space and the Earth’s position in it for their next unit. All the science fair projects are complete and the students will begin peer review and presentations shortly before the actual Science Fair.

6th Social Studies: The students will begin lessons on South America.

6th Reading:  The students will begin reading radio stories and create one based on ocean life.

6th Religion: The students will focus on the The Ten Commandments and the story of Moses.
