8th GradeTeacher: Miss Genovesi Miss Genovesi also teaches 5th - 8th Math. January Highlights
8th Science: The students are completing their units on anatomy and will begin dissection this month. All the science fair projects are complete and the students will begin peer review and presentations shortly before the actual Science Fair. 8th English: The students will be reviewing their prepositions. Also, they will be learning poetry concerning oceans the last week of January into February and constructing concrete poems on the oceans. 8th Social Studies: the students will learn about the Jazz Age and the end of the 1920’s. 8th
Math: The students will be continuing to work with the real number system. Then it’s time to dive into the ocean and explore scales,
areas, perimeters, surface area, volume, number systems, squaring/square
rooting, and percents. (Algebra: The students will be finishing up working on solving and
applying proportions before also diving into the ocean to explore the same
topics as above.) 8th Religion: The students will be starting to prepare for Confirmation. Don’t forget about the Rite of Enrollment 5pm Mass this month! J 8th
Reading: The students will be continuing to read, analyze, and discuss their
first novel Animal Farm by George Orwell before moving on to oceanic
poetry. Spanish:
This year the students will be working
on many topics including greetings, the alphabet, colors, numbers, animals,
