Hi,

My name is Kathie Nash and I’ve taught music at SMG for the last four years.  My BME degree is in Music Education.  I also have a minor in history and have taken additional hours with an emphasis towards teaching the “exceptional child”.

My philosophy is that every child has the ability and the right to learn.  Because we all learn differently, I try to incorporate as many teaching styles in my classroom as possible so that each student has the opportunity to excel.  Nothing “makes my day” and inspires me more than seeing the “light bulb go on” as a student suddenly “gets it”!

My hobbies include cooking, gardening, reading and traveling.  One of those is what you’ll find me doing whenever I’m not working.  I’ve been told I do the first two to magazine presentation level and the last two I always do with the idea of “what can I learn today to share with my students”?

This year, in addition to my outlined music program, I hope to acquaint the children with more international music so they will better understand other cultures in this shrinking world.
