January Highlights

In January, the kindergarten students are engaged in many interesting learning opportunities!  Themes for the month include winter, winter weather, winter animals, and our Catholic Schools Week theme of Native Americans.  The students will be involved in a variety of activities and centers related to these themes as well as many exciting poems, stories, and songs!

In math, the students will continue to work with numbers up to 100.  They are eagerly counting to the 100th day of school and are almost there!  Math lessons will also include a unit on measurement.  Religion lessons will involve learning about our neighbors and God’s signs of love for everyone.  They will also be preparing for Catholic Schools Week at the end of the month.  They look forward to the school’s Catholic Schools Week mass and Open House at the end of the month!

Science topics this month include energy (sound, heat, and light), and movement.  Experiments and hands-on activities make learning exciting for the kindergartners!

The students will continue to add new words to their word wall each week.  Words of the week for January are: my, we, had, at, him, her, little, have, with, all, there, some.  The letters of the week for January are: X, K, and W.
